Michelle Brown-Echerd ND (she/her) is a licensed naturopathic doctor (ND) (OR/WA/DC/MD/VT), ND midwife (VT/OR), birth assistant, and Certified Doula.
Michelle graduated from an accredited naturopathic medical school with a Naturopathic Medical (ND) degree (2014) and a Certificate in Natural Childbirth (2016); National College (University) of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR. Birth training took place mainly in Oregon and Washington with ND midwives, CPMs, CNMs, and a perinatologist MD, with some additional training in Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware.
More recently Michelle has attended births as an assistant midwife and doula in Maryland and Delaware. She continues to regularly support all ages of pediatric patients as a naturopathic doctor.
Michelle is currently available as a licensed “travel in to Vermont” provider, based in Maryland, for home births, including prenatal and postpartum visits, as well as naturopathic medical care for all ages and most conditions. Office visits available in Burlington.
Co-care services are also offered for those families planning hospital births or births with another provider type.
Michelle is also a member of the Oregon Midwifery Council, the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (DEI Committee Member), Evidence Based Birth, and is a Certified Doula -birth and postpartum (ICTC/SMC) with Cultural Competency training and a Megi Health High Risk Birth Doula.
Michelle’s interest in out of hospital births began when birthing her own children at home over 20 years ago. When opening a private practice in Oregon in 2015, available for all ages, she was seeing predominantly pediatric patients for the first 2 years of practice, before balancing out the age groups for peds and adults including geriatrics.
